These small and delicious cookies are chewy and such a great snack for Christmas, holidays or with coffee! Traditionally from Tanzania and other countries in East Africa but now also common in Southern United States!
My daughter is a Daisy in Girl Scouts and recently we went to a Girl Scout's event called "Thinking Day".
Each troop represents a country at Thinking Day, and has fun activities, games and foods to try from that country.
We visited the Tanzania booth and they had these awesome little bites of goodness, Benne Wafers.
I completely fell in love with these cookies. The toasted sesame seeds add an amazing flavor. They are perfect.
This recipe makes a HUGE batch, about 70-ish, but they are small cookies.
Once you start eating these, you won't be able to stop. Consider yourself warned 😉
If you love cookies, stop by and check out some of my favorites: Brown Sugar Chocolate Chip Walnut Shortbread, Chocolate Oatmeal No Bake Cookies, Chocolate Candy Cane Kiss Cookies, Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Cookies, or Red Velvet White Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Thanks so much for hosting!! :)
DeleteMade this and love them. Not to sweet and just really good. Question? How long will they keep in an airtight container? I am just leaving them on the counter or should I put in the refrigerator. I want to make another batch for Christmas and want to make sure they won't go bad. thanks
ReplyDeleteThey should last a few days in an airtight container on the counter. I have not tried refrigerating them. Thanks for stopping by!
