PIN THIS RECIPE
Ham has always been a favorite of mine, ever since childhood!
I loved eating it during the holiday season, snacking on sliced ham from the deli or eating it for breakfast with eggs and toast.
This ham steak recipe is quite tasty, especially if you love sweet, salty and savory flavors together. Make it along with some easy sides and breakfast or dinner can be ready in less than 30 minutes!
The brown sugar, butter and black pepper combo turns out to be a delicious sauce that coats the ham steak perfectly, making you want more and more with each bite.
I usually serve this sweet brown sugar ham steak with some fried potatoes or hash browns, a veggie or some rice, depending if it's breakfast or dinner time.
Ham steaks are something I buy often. They are fairly inexpensive, can be cooked whole or chopped up and used in casseroles, pastas, omelettes, and much more.
Sam's Club has a three pack for a great price, and it makes SO many meals.
What is in Sweet Brown Sugar Ham Steak?
- Ham steak: is a thick slice cut from a whole ham, either with the bone removed or bone in. Bone in cuts are less expensive. Ham steaks are a great substitute for a whole ham, especially if you don't have a big crowd to feed. This recipe uses pre-cooked ham steak which is pre-packaged and readily available at all grocery stores.
- Butter: A dairy product consisting of approximately 80% butterfat and made from the fat and protein components of milk or cream. Most commonly made from cow's milk, but can also be made from sheep, goat, yak, or buffalo milk.
- Brown sugar: Often produced by adding sugarcane molasses to refined white sugar crystals. There are two varieties, light brown sugar and dark brown sugar. Dark brown sugar has more molasses, which results in a darker color, richer flavor and more moisture. Try making your own brown sugar here!
