Hey bloggy friends! I hope you're all having a fantastic weekend so far!
Today's recipe is for these awesome Philly Cheesesteak Biscuit Bites!
I just LOVE taking ingredients found in the fridge, wrap them up in a biscuit, and turn them into something yummy.
These biscuit bites taste just like my favorite sandwich, but in a bite sized snack. They also bake up super quick, so they would make a great lunch or dinner in a pinch!
This recipe is great because you can use freshly cooked steak, leftover steak, ground beef or even leftover beef roast or corned beef! Rotisserie chicken or shredded chicken would also be great! I also add some sautéed chopped mushrooms sometimes too!
They're also tasty wrapped up in a crescent roll, or even some pizza dough! Try using different cheeses for a new flavor every time.
Because this recipe is so easy, you can recruit the kiddos to join you in the kitchen and help prepare this recipe!
I always love using cooking as a teaching tool! They can learn some math from measuring, home ec from cooking and so much more! It's such a great way to spend some time together, too!
I hope you try this recipe and enjoy it!
What are the ingredients in this recipe?
- Bell pepper: The bell pepper comes in different colors including red, yellow, orange, green, white, and purple. Red peppers have the most nutrition, because they've been on the vine longest. Green peppers are harvested earlier, before they have a chance to turn yellow, orange, and then red. Red bell peppers have almost 11 times more beta-carotene and 1.5 times more vitamin C than green.
- Onion: The onion is a vegetable that is the most widely cultivated species of the genus Allium. It's relatives include the garlic, shallot, leek, and chive. Onions contain antioxidants, red onions have the highest antioxidant amount. Onions produce the chemical irritant known as syn-propanethial-S-oxide. This irritant floats up from the chopped onion and causes tears. Chill the onion prior to chopping to reduce irritation.
- Provolone cheese: This semi-hard cheese is Italian and is made from cow's milk. It has high amounts of calcium and protein and the sliced cheese is great for melting. It is fairly salty, but you don't need much to take advantage of the great flavor.
