Red and Green Salad is a fresh, colorful dish that’s perfect for spring and summer, and it’s red and green color is festive enough to serve at Christmas, too! The combination of crisp salad greens, tart red apples, juicy raspberries, and a touch of green onion creates a vibrant mix of flavors and textures in every bite.
I love serving this salad with my homemade creamy poppy seed dressing, which adds a sweet and tangy finish that ties everything together beautifully. This salad is seriously addicting and disappears so fast every time we make it—it’s always one of the first dishes gone at any meal or gathering!

Recipe tips and substitution ideas:
- Store bought creamy poppy seed dressing works well, but homemade creamy poppy seed dressing takes it to the next level!
- This salad can be made ahead of time for work lunch or meal prep. I recommend adding the apples when serving, but you can keep apples from browning after being cut. Toss them in a mixture of lemon juice and water to slow oxidation. You can also use a splash of pineapple or orange juice for the same effect with a slightly sweeter flavor.
- This recipe is also great with strawberries instead of raspberries. If you don't care about the red and green theme, try blackberries or blueberries instead of raspberries or green apples instead of red. This salad is also fantastic with red onion instead of green. This salad is also amazing with my Strawberry Balsamic Vinaigrette!
