Spending a day or two in Atlanta?!? Check out the restaurants, bakeries and other attractions we experienced!
Atlanta was another city we didn't have much time in on our ladies trip last May, but we sure did a lot with the time we had!
You can see the highlights from the rest of our trip in Montgomery, AL, Birmingham, AL and Chattanooga, TN by clicking on each city.
This was the trip of a lifetime for me and I can't wait to go back to these cities someday and see everything we missed!
Enjoy!
World of Coca-Cola 121 Baker St NW, Atlanta, GA 30313
World of Coke was by far my favorite thing we did in Atlanta!!
Honestly, when I drink pop, I'm a Pepsi fan. But the history, exhibits and information was really fun and informative for adults and kids alike.
The best part of this museum???
Trying the different flavors of Coke from around the world!
Some flavors were not the best and others have you wishing they were available everywhere. Be prepared to be sticky and full of sugar by the time you leave, but it's completely worth every sweet sip.
The gift shop is large and quite amazing. If you love buying souvenirs like I do on a budget, check out the clearance section. I scored Coke pajama pants for my daughter and I for $10 each!
Ponce City Market 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30308
Awe, Ponce City Market. I love you. You are a food lovers dream and the shopping is a bonus too!
Ponce City Market is located in the historic Sears, Roebuck & Co. building in Atlanta and is the largest adaptive reuse project in the area to date.
Not only is there shopping and food, but offices and flats too!
If you're looking for food, be prepared to wander around, browse at menus and finally make one of the hardest foodie decisions in life.
Where to eat? There's so many choices.
Check out what we tried below!
Saint-Germain Bakery 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE Suite N150, Atlanta, GA 30308
Eclairs always have a place in my belly, especially when they are dusted with gold!
All of the desserts at Saint Germain Bakery are simply gorgeous and my vanilla eclair was quite tasty too!
After eating all things savory, it's worth a stop here to cure that sweet tooth craving.
City Winery 650 North Avenue NE #201, Atlanta, GA 30308
It turns out City Winery has locations in many cities, but this one in Atlanta has a ton of character and is such a great environment.
It was a gorgeous May weekday when we visited, and the scent from the jasmine plants that surrounded us on the patio was relaxing and beautiful!
I ordered the braised duck tacos with cabbage salad and guacamatillo salsa and they were so tasty!
My sister in law ordered the wild mushroom pizza special, and I wish I could've been greedy and ordered that too! SO delicious!
I love the unique menu and the winery on-site. They have live music often, and the list of bands and musicians was diverse.
This place is worth a stop, for at least a glass of wine if you're at Ponce City Market!
CNN Center 190 Marietta St NW, Atlanta, GA 30303
Our visit to the CNN Center in Atlanta was a blast!
We started off with the VIP tour of the building which includes access to live news rooms, control rooms and so much more. I recommend spending the extra money for this tour versus the basic tour.
Did you know that the escalator pictured above in the largest free standing escalator in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records?
Such a fun experience just for that alone.
While your visiting, make sure to check out the many gift shops, grab a bite to eat at Fresh 2 Order, and grab a cider on tap from BURGERFI!
SkyView Atlanta 168 Luckie St NW, Atlanta, GA 30303
After our CNN Studio visit, we walked across the street to ride Skyview Atlanta and catch the great view of the city!
This ferris wheel is nearly 20 stories above Centennial Olympic Park and the gondolas are temperature controlled so you can stay cool on those hot Atlanta days.
This is a great time to catch some amazing photos, enjoy a quick break from walking and relax for a minute.
I'm afraid of heights, but with the enclosed gondolas, I had no issues with my fear. I now want to experience ferris wheels in every city I visit that has one!
Centennial Olympic Park 265 Park Ave W NW, Atlanta, GA 30313
This park is such a beautiful and fun place to walk around, people watch and splash in the water!
If you're adventurous like my sister in law, you can stand in the olympic rings and get stuck in the water. It was quite the task to get back out without getting wet!
This public park was created as a spot for tourists and residents during the 1996 Summer Olympics and is still thriving today. It's fun and free, which is my kind of place to visit.
Chicken + Beer Concourse D, Gate D5, Atlanta, GA 30337
Last but not least, the Chicken and Beer restaurant in the Hartsfield- Jackson Atlanta Airport!
Rapper Ludacris opened this southern style comfort food restaurant at the airport in 2016. He has always been one of my favorite rappers since I was a teen, so I knew we had to stop and eat here before we flew back home to Minnesota!
I ordered the Pesto Chicken Patty Melt which is collard greens, pesto chicken, white American cheese, onion and ale mustard with rosemary garlic tater tots.
Oh my goodness! I've never had greens in a sandwich before, but you can bet I'll be trying this at home. So delicious, and defintely pure comfort food.
Worth the stop to fill your belly before the flight home!
