This delicious and easy quick bread is such a great way to use those ripe bananas! The maraschino cherries and pecans add so much flavor and it's great for breakfast, snack, the lunchbox or dessert!
Cherry Banana Bread
Banana bread has always been a comfort food to me.
I loved when my mom used to make it as a child, and now as an adult, I love trying new and different flavored banana breads.
Today's recipe has to be one of my favorite banana bread recipes so far! The cherries and pecans add sweetness and crunch, which is great with the bananas.
I absolutely love cherries! Fresh, frozen, maraschino, they're all tasty to me. In fact, I pretty much go broke in the summertime buying fresh bing and rainier cherries at the grocery store! I've even been to Traverse City, Michigan during their annual cherry festival.
I even have six nanking cherry bushes planted in my yard!
These cherries are sweet and slightly tart, but they're SO good for snacking, making syrup or wine! I grew up with these bushes in my yard as a child, and as soon as I bought my house, I planted them. My daughter, friends and family love these cherries as much as I do and I always share with them since the picking season is so short.

As soon as the loaf cools, I remove it from the pan and slice it into 6-8 pieces.
To make it easier for grab and go breakfasts, adding to the lunchbox or snacks, I wrap each slice in aluminum foil or plastic wrap. That way we save money by eating this from home versus stopping for something at the gas station or fast food restaurant on those extra busy days.
I love any banana bread with some softened butter smeared across each slice, but it defintely tastes amazing as is.
You can try chopped walnuts, peanuts, almonds or hazelnuts instead of the pecans. Or try adding a teaspoon of vanilla or almond extract for some extra flavor.
This recipe is so easy to make as the recipe shows, or customize it to make it your own!
