These easy Air Fryer Carrot Tots are a fantastic way to encourage kids to enjoy their vegetables! Made with simple, wholesome ingredients, they're a healthier alternative to store-bought tater tots. Perfect as a main dish, side, or snack, they work well for lunch, dinner, or anytime in between.

I shaped these carrot tots larger and rounder than traditional tots to save time, but you can easily make them in the classic tot shape if you prefer. Each bite is loaded with cheesy goodness and a hint of garlic and onion for extra flavor.

Seasoned with little ones in mind, these carrot tots are mild enough for kids but can be easily adjusted for adults with extra seasoning or served alongside your favorite dipping sauce. Carrots are a nutritious choice, and these tots make them irresistibly delicious!

We can't get enough carrots at our house! If you love carrots too, then you'll want to try my Air Fryer Rosemary Honey Carrots or Creamy Zucchini and Carrot Soup!

Recipe tips and substitution ideas:

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat in an air fryer or microwave.
  • Different brands of air fryers may heat differently, so cook time may need to be adjusted.
  • Use a cheesecloth to squeeze the juice from the carrots. I squeeze mine into a glass and drink. Carrot juice is so tasty!
  • I recommend using regular carrots and NOT baby carrots for this recipe. Regular carrots have way more flavor and a better texture.
  • Use any shredded cheese or any seasoning blend you like instead of salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder.

Air Fryer Carrot Tots

Ingredients

  • 1 cup finely grated carrots
  • ⅓ cup finely shredded Mexican style cheese
  • ¼ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried minced onion
  • ¼ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Brush air fryer rack with olive oil. Preheat your air fryer according to manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Squeeze excess juice from the one cup grated carrots and add to a medium sized bowl.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl, then stir until just combined. This mixture will seem dry, but that’s the consistency we want.
  4. Scoop out carrot mixture with a 1.5 tablespoon scoop and roll into balls. Place on the air fryer rack.
  5. Air fry for 6-8 minutes, or until outside is crispy and starts browning. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, optional.
